They say that you need to develop a strong relationship with yourself before you can do it with anyone else. It's been exactly a year since we broke up and i'm just learning to put myself out there again.
The thought of starting over at the time seemed incredibly painful but in hindsight it would have been even more painful staying in a stagnant situation. I had been in two consecutive long term relationships over the course of six years and decided it was finally time to take a break and immerse myself in some much needed alone time. It was during this time where I learnt the beauty of solitude. Allowing it to completely consume my every thought and my entire being. Learning to be alone is an extremely frightening thought for some, but for me it's a never ending process of growing and evolving. When you realise what truly makes you happy you also see how many things are completely irrelevant and unnecessary. What you want, wants you too. You just need to learn to align yourself with it. I spent 2015 getting back on my feet and I owe a large part of the healing process to family, friends and most importantly travel.
Thank you to these talented creatives for inspiring me on the daily and for reminding me the importance of vulnerability. It's okay to put yourself in experiences you aren't accustmed to. It's the only way to grow. I'm Looking forward to the next chapter of my life. Here's to new beginnings, :).
